The Grief Diaries

This video essay is a visceral meditation on grief, created on the one-month anniversary of a loved one’s passing. Framed as a direct address to the deceased, it unfolds as a one-sided conversation. a raw attempt to connect across the silence left by death. Through this intimate dialogue, the piece explores the emotional and physical weight of mourning, and the way loss reshapes the mind, body, and soul.

To externalize these invisible wounds, special effects makeup is used to simulate blackened eyes and torn lips, visual metaphors for crying until bruised and screaming until broken. These symbolic injuries represent the internal violence of grief, which so often remains unseen yet deeply felt.

More than a tribute, this work becomes a visual language for sorrow, a love letter forged in absence, and an attempt to honor the enduring connection between the living and the lost.
